Mauritius Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture National Plan
AISD was retained by the World Bank to advise the Prime Minister of Mauritius the national Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture Plan, for inclusion in the national budget, including recommendations for an artisan net cage production model coupled with a Rights Based program in fishing communities. Recommended funding for the Albion Fisheries Research Institute to conduct new species adaptations with technical assistance from Taiwan or Indonesia; implementing ocean net cage trials working with the existing private enterprise cage culture company; and, continued support for the Bureau of Investment (BOI) Fisheries Unit for the analysis of commercial net cage projects.
