The principal goal of the Alternative Livelihoods Development
Program is to accelerate broad based, sustainable regional
economic development in ways that provide new opportunities
for the Afghan population to seek livelihoods in the licit
economy. AISD will provide agribusiness and regional economic
development technical services to the project.
TASK ORDER: Eastern Afghanistan Poultry Sub-sector Assessment
and Strategy Development. AISD conducted an assessment of
the poultry sub-sector in Eastern Afghanistan and designed
a sector development strategy with sector stakeholders identifying
specific areas for critical donor interventions.
TASK ORDER: Provide technical advice for establishment of
Poultry Bio-safety System to prevent and combat Avian Influenza.
TASK ORDER: Provide technical and managerial advice for
the establishment and operation of agribusinesses linked
to the poultry value chain, specifically breeder farms,
hatcheries, feed mills and broiler farms, in close collaboration
with the Eastern Region Poultry Farmers Association. Strengthen
the capacity of the association and its members to schedule
operations and operate profitably.

The purpose of this IQC is to provide
state-of-the-art expertise to promote democratic governance
in countries in all stages of political development, to promote
democratic governance, support Fragile States, and to assist
MCA candidate countries to qualify for MCA funding. Technical
services under the contract fall into three categories: a)
reinforcing legitimacy of state structure, policies, and functions;
b) public management; and c) strategic planning, policy, and
institutional reform

The recently established USAID Office of Conflict Management
and Mitigation (CMM) has relied heavily on several agency
procurement mechanisms to execute its activities. As a result,
CMM established the Instability, Crisis, Responses, Programs
(ICRP) Indefinite Quantity Contract (IQC) to better serve
the office’s state fragility and conflict mitigation
needs. This IQC will enable CMM, USAID field Missions, USAID
Bureaus, other USAID operating units, and U.S. government
agencies to procure services relating to state fragility and
conflict mitigation-related short- and long-term technical
assistance (both in the field and in Washington), program
design and implementation, and the award and oversight of
grants.
TASK
ORDER: Jamaica Sustainable Lending Program for Youth, Improved
Governance Through Citizen Security and Participation. AISD
designed a sustainable lending model and grant program for
a community based lending program to create economic opportunity
for inner city communities, with a focus on youth and young
adult employment and entrepreneurship. The Jamaica Governance
project is aimed at addressing community-level governance
issues that contribute to crime, violence, and corruption.
TASK ORDER: Services under Program and Project Offices for
Results Tracking (SUPPORT) for USAID/Sudan. SUPPORT activities
include assessments to assist in program development and
implementation; specialized research on how to structure
interventions and effectively manage the transition from
relief to recovery to reconstruction to development; provide
quick short term technical assistance to support program
implementation; monitoring and evaluation of relief and
development programs; specialized training for new staff;
and specialized cross-sectoral technical assistance. AISD
is a member of the SUPPORT team, to provide project assessment
and design services.

The Integrated Water and Coastal Resources Management IQC
supports the USAID Office of Natural Resources, Bureau for
Economic Growth, Agriculture, and Trade (EGAT/NRM Strategic
Objective (SO) 1, “Increased and Improved Protection
and Sustainable Use of Natural Resources,” with special
emphasis on Intermediate Result 1.4, “Increased Conservation
and Sustainable Use of Freshwater and Coastal Resources. AISD
will provide a range of technical services as a member of
the DAI consortium, including coastal resources management,
environmental monitoring and modeling, market access, enterprise
development, capture fishing and aquaculture, and aquatic
ecosystems management.

ORDER: Blue Revolution Initiative (BRI), transforming the
culture and governance of water in the Middle East and Africa.
The BRI will address some of the most challenging water
issues we face: the lack of access by the poor to improved
water and sanitation services, inefficient and nonproductive
water use, and transboundary river basin management. AISD
is a member of the BRI team, to provide expertise in the
areas of coastal resource management, fisheries and aquaculture.

trade counseling, assistance finding Japanese investors, partners,
importers/distributors, and sales agents, as well as market
briefings, product assessments, and matchmaking services.

Sri Lanka: Conducted an assessment of tsunami affected
communities in Sri Lanka, from Galle to Valaichenai (south
of Trincomalee), aimed at identify opportunities for project
assistance to support recovery of coastal communities and
fishing industries. AISD met with representatives of local
governments, community groups, relief organizations and
the local fisheries industry, and identified a range of
project investments that were presented to Government of
