AISD’s Andrew Kaelin conducted a study of the political economy and institutional arrangements that underpin establishment of public private partnerships in the fisheries industry in Indonesia. In the studied models, outside agents (whether NGOs, fishing companies or cooperatives, or dive tourism operators) can effectively strengthen (or even create) better define access rights to marine resources and improve management of fisheries. Indonesia Coral Reef Management and Value Chains
AISD is providing technical services to the World Bank’s Coral Reef Rehabilitation and Management Program (COREMAP), which aims to establish viable, operational, and institutionalized coral reef management systems in priority coral reef sites in Indonesia. AISD undertook a mission to identify technically feasible and economically viable small-scale aquaculture investment models for coral reef based-economies in rural Indonesia, including Selayar, Wakatobi, South Sulewesi, and other islands. Banda Aceh Sustainable Livelihoods Recovery
Conducted an assessment of tsunami-affected communities in and around Banda Aceh, as well as the former Free Aceh Movement areas (GAM – Gherkin Aceh Media), in order to identify sustainable livelihood recovery and development opportunities. (2005)
